My friend Lori and her mother Loretta were visiting me and Lori mentioned that I made the best salmon patties she had ever tasted. I could see Loretta's hackles raised and I said, "Lori, you should never say that someone makes something better than your own mother!" Loretta said, "Well, what do you do that makes yours so good?" I told my recipe, which is how my own mother always made them and Loretta answered, "That's exactly how I make them!" Lori said, "Well, I can't help it, Mom, Sue's are better!" Loretta answered, "Well, the next time you make them, send some to me!"
